miRNA Analysis

Quality automated microRNA purification with minimized hands-on time

The purification of small RNA species such as microRNA (miRNA) is challenging because of the low concentrations, small fragment sizes (19-22 nucleotides) and tendency to be found in protein complexes. Due to its essential role in homeostasis, miRNA is an important biomarker for cancer and metabolic disease research.

With only 10 minutes of hands-on time within a 90-minute total processing time, the chemagic™ miRNA kits enable high throughput and efficient extraction of circulating cell-free small RNA from 200 µl or 1 ml inputs in 24-well or 96-well format. The chemagic miRNA kits obtained equivalent yields to manual methods, while analysis by quantitative PCR and Next Generation Sequencing revealed high diversity and reliable performance.

Key benefits:

  • Consistent and scalable small RNA extraction with comparable yields to manual methods.
  • Fast, automated workflow (10 min hands-on time) with on-board lysis and no heating required.
  • Suitable for plasma, serum or extracellular vesicles at input volumes of 200 µl or 1 ml.
  • Suitable for various downstream assays and proven compatibility with NEXTFLEX® Small RNA-Seq Kit (refer App Note).
  • Full sample tracking with barcode reading and bidirectional LIMS communication capability.

Customer experiences

“We have started the testing of cfRNA isolations with our chemagic 360 instrument – the RNA yields appear fine from different plasma and serum samples, thus we look forward to use the kit for high throughput applications.”

Comparable yields to manual methods

Comparable yields of miRNA were extracted with the chemagic miRNA kits compared to a competitor kit. miRNA was isolated from 0.2 ml (A) and 1.0 ml (B) from three different donors with the chemagic kits on the chemagic 360 instrument and manually with competitor Q.
