The AlphaLISA® Human Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) Detection Kit is designed for detection and quantitation of human IGF2 in serum, buffered solution or cell culture medium in a homogeneous (no-wash steps, no separation steps) assay.
Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) is 67 amino acids in length after being fully processed. Its actions are mediated by binding to specific cell surface receptors. The major role of IGF2 is as a growth promoting hormone during gestation. In general, the insulin-like growth factor pathway plays a major role in cancer cell proliferation, survival and resistance to anti-cancer therapies in many human malignancies. IGF2 could be potentially be an important serum biomarker for prognosis of certain cancers.
AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity. The excitation of the Donor beads causes the release of singlet oxygen molecules that triggers a cascade of energy transfer in the Acceptor beads, resulting in a sharp peak of light emission at 615 nm.
