Interleukin 15 (IL15) is a cytokine produced as a precursor maturing into a 114 amino acid glycoprotein. The placenta, skeletal muscle, kidney, lung, heart, and monocytes/macrophages are among the tissues that produce IL15. It is generally recognized that IL15 is a crucial cytokine for the growth, survival, and proliferation of natural killer cells. It primarily affects T and B cells. In particular, autoimmune illnesses such as inflammatory bowel disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, inflammatory synovitis, psoriasis, diabetes mellitus, asthma bronchiale, rheumatoid arthritis, and T-cell leukemia have made IL15 signaling a target for therapeutic intervention.
AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity. The excitation of the Donor beads causes the release of singlet oxygen molecules that triggers a cascade of energy transfer in the Acceptor beads, resulting in a sharp peak of light emission at 615 nm.
