Monitoring growth and viability

The Cellaca™ MX high-throughput cell counter has been used to directly measure CHO cell concentration and viability in a 24-well chamber plate in less than 3 minutes for brightfield imaging with Trypan blue staining. In addition, a ViaStain Cell Fitness Panel kit can be used to measure 1) reactive oxygen species, 2) apoptosis with Annexin V and Caspase 3/7, and 3) viability and vitality using acridine orange/PI and Calcein AM.

Growth tracking for single cell to single colony

The Celigo™ image cytometer can track single-cell growth to single colony. The images below show two examples of single cells in brightfield growing into colonies in four consecutive days.

Cell growth tracking

After a cell line has been engineered, it is critical to monitor proliferation to characterize the line’s fitness and growth potential. The example below shows how the Celigo image cytometer can directly count individual cells or perform confluence measurements in 96-well plates over time.
