Streptavidin-coumarin can be used to detect biotinylated proteins, including secondary antibodies or other macromolecules, and to amplify their signal. With an extremely high affinity for biotin, coumarin-labeled streptavidin provides signal amplification in applications such as in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence, or fluorescence-activated cell sorting and analysis.
