Overview

The essential amino acid phenyalanine plays a key role in the biosynthesis of other amino acids including L-tyrosine, and related biochemical processes involving the synthesis of several important neurotransmitters.  Phenylalanine also plays a role in digestive pathways. Labeled Phenylalanine has been cited in studies of appetite suppression, depression and vitiligo.
