Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive hematologic malignancy that arises from hematopoietic stem cells and often progresses from initial symptoms to severe illness very quickly. However, unlike many cancers, AML currently lacks effective screening tools to enable early detection and intervention.

Reference standards are materials with fixed, known parameters used to verify successful experiments and test for identity, concentration, and quality of particular substances. These control materials are essential tools for supporting the development of consistent and accurate molecular tests.

This literature review draws from recent publications to discuss how Mimix^TM myeloid reference standards can be applied throughout research workflows as quality controls, supporting the investigation and molecular profiling of myeloid malignancies.
