3D cell-based assays in a hypoxic tumor microenvironment

Solid tumor cancers remain a leading cause of death, and unlike like B-cell malignancies, there are still no effective treatments for solid tumor cancers. This is mostly due to the complexity of solid tumor microenvironments (TME) as well as a lack of robust analytic tools and assays for specific biomarkers.

In this webinar, Dr. Paul Weingarten will describe the use of an image-based 3D tumorsphere assay in the discovery of Mct-4, a biomarker for the study of tumor cell proliferation in hypoxic environments. His research indicated that Mct-4 expression is increased in hypoxia in 3D but not in 2D cell culture models.  With this robust 3D tumorsphere proliferation assay, researchers can screen compound libraries to identify inhibitors and block tumor cell growth.

Our second speaker, Dr. William Rice, will discuss the use of a high-throughput methods for investigating the tumor microenvironment.
